In the alicante village of Denia, in the area next to the V.G.R. (Valentian Government Railroad) station, a balcony coating of a residential building with specially designed imposts, has been made. The project management and Project authors, Fernando Ferrer and Associates S.L., wanted to coat the balconies with a prefabricated material, so they contacted ULMA’s Polymer Concrete Technical – Commercial Department. The essential characteristics to be met by the parts were: a perfect smooth finish, a reduced water absorption percentage (for being in a high humidity area) and most important all had to be a lightweight material and dimensionally adaptable. The polymer concrete counts on all these properties, plus it delivers 4 times more resistance than traditional concrete. “The parts count on a perfect smooth finish, a lightweightness and adaptability worth mentioning”. For the referred project, several molds of flat parts have been made, which have been cut down to different lengths in function of the work needs. Additionally, these special parts have been combined in gray color with other standard parts en special Red C – 44 color, such as the window sills, coping and lintels.
