In the Gipuzkoan village of Azkoitia, the Fronton projected by the Basque sculptor Jorge Oteiza boasts its ULMA drainage line.
The architect Carlos López de Ceballos praises the contrast between white concrete and the rich variety of greens offered by the mountains and local trees. He has designed this exceptional space with the help from the sculptor Anton Mendizábal who, through his works, has made an intense artistic research around the Basque ball game. Nevertheless, the project wouldn’t exist without the collaboration of Jorge Oteiza. “He saw a first project, we spoke about the topic and he offered the guidelines to concretize the frontons. His comments were very interesting”, tells López de Ceballos, who still gets moved when remembering the work done together with the sculptor from Orio.
The ULMA channel used in the project is SELF 200 with ductile cast iron grating for load class C 250.
It is a polivalent channel with constant height, very practical in channelling lines that are not excessively long or with frequent outlets. The system was designed and elaborated under the premises of EN 1433 and it shows the corresponding CE labelling.
The adopted solution was defined after the corresponding hydraulic calculation, which allowed an optimization and dimensioning of the models to be installed.
