ULMA Polymer Concrete at the R+S=F Congress

Last October the Congress Rehabilitation and Sustainability= The Future is possible was held at the Barcelona Congress Centre. ULMA attended with a stand displaying a selection of items ideal for Rehabilitation such as slab faces and balcony infillings.

The material which these items are made of, polymer concrete, is a material which is recyclable, reusable, non-contaminating and chemically inert. It is an optimum material for rehabilitations and its properties extend the life of the materials of the building, promoting Sustainable Construction.

The lightness of the material and its prefabricated state contribute to its high implementation performance compared with traditional concrete or manufacture in situ, resulting in cost savings on site and a more efficient deployment of the materials.

30 speeches and 65 communications were provided at the Congress and debates were held amongst around 800 participants. With this mosaic of knowledge, some important conclusions were drawn and we would like to stress the following:

• That rehabilitation is an important source of sustainable employment for Spain.

• That rehabilitation and urban regeneration provide efficient responses to the social, environmental and economic challenges which face our districts and cities, improving their habitability, reducing their environmental impact and providing a stable economic framework.
