ULMA Polymer Concrete presents the first channel incorporating a slope of 2.5%, developed under the most demanding quality norms required by the sector, the UNE-EN 1433.
The most remarkable advantages shown by this new channel are:
• Its high hydraulic capacity.
• The self-cleansing effect, due to the incorporated slope.
• And its reduced maintenance.
The Integral Technical Service for clients of ULMA Polymer Concrete has developed this new solution. This Integral Service provides an advice from the initial conception of the project up to its final work execution.
In this concrete case, the company in charge of the sewage network in Barcelona found the problem of dirt in the base and maintenance of its channelling and sewages.
After an analysis of the concrete needs, it was determined that the possible solution could entail a channel with bigger hydraulic capacity, providing a slope of 2.5%.
Another point to take into account was the inspection point. The possibility of incorporating an inspection hole with reclining grating to facilitate the access and maintenance was suggested. An important part consisted of completing the inspection hole with the outlet at base level.
With this new polymer concrete channel with incorporated slope, a considerable saving is achieved in terms of maintenance costs for the installations, making human intervention almost unnecessary. The same water that flows through the channels sweeps the elements that could have remained.
We cannot forget about the peculiarities of polymer concrete, used in the elaboration of our channels. It is a recyclable, reusable, non-contaminating material, chemically inert. It provides resistances four times bigger as those of traditional concrete, apart from being an incredibly light stony material. Apart from being waterproof, unaffected by the freeze-thaw cycle, very resistant to shock, abrasion and chemical products.
